Welcome to the Chena River Wayside, also known as the Chena River State Recreation Site.
This 26-acre park is located on the west side of Fairbanks, Alaska.     Where is the park?

The park is operated for the State of Alaska by a private company,
Northern Parks Management, LLC.


Park Highlights
  • Nestled in a mature spruce/birch forest along the Chena River
  • 56 spacious back-in RV sites
  • 10 sites with 20/30 A. and water
  • 1 site with 20/30/50 A. and water
  • 7 double sites for those travelling together
  • 5 walk-in tent sites
  • Dump & Fill Station (free with paid camping)
  • 4 Restrooms with flush toilets
  • Wi-Fi hotspot (Free Wireless high-speed Internet)
  • 2 Pay phones
  • 10 Picnic sites along the river
  • Open lawn areas and Nature trail
  • Large picnic shelter for group reservations
  • Volleyball, horseshoes, and swing set
  • Boat launch
  • On bus line
  • 1 block to Grocery stores, restaurants, and shopping malls
  • Close to UAF Museum and the Airport

The park is closed for the winter.

We will open again on May 20, 2008
